Sudha Murty nominated to Rajya Sabha by President Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu nominated Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murty to the Rajya Sabha on Women’s Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed Murty as a powerful symbol of “Nari Shakti” (women’s empowerment) and a role model for reshaping India’s future, praising her vast contributions to social service, philanthropy, and education.

The 73-year-old is a very renowned person who has won multiple honors for her accomplishments in a variety of professions, including the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. Her notable creation of more than 60,000 libraries in Karnataka is a testament to her passion for the language, which she learned up until grade 10. Murty is a well-known writer as well; her works have been translated into other languages and have sold more than 2.6 million copies in the country.
